St Basil's Aged Care Energy Audit - Randwick Site

Central Highlands Rural Health Energy Audit

Central Highlands Rural Health runs five health care sites in which three of them consist of hospital and aged care facility attached to it and one has only aged care facility with medical centre attached to it and the last one is only a medical centre. All these centres are located in central Victoria. We were able to find 11 to 16 energy saving opportunities and the major recommendations are listed below:

  • Fine tuning to the air conditioning controller and hot water system.
  • Add energy efficiency control strategies to the Building Management System (BMS).
  • Replace old inefficient chillers and boilers with new high efficiency type.
  • Install adiabatic system to the air cooled chillers.
  • Solar hot water system.
  • Solar PV System to generate electricity.
  • Replace old inefficient lights with high efficiency type and installing new controls to the lights.

Total annual cost saving for five sites was $232,335 with 4 to 8 years payback periods. Annual GHG avoidance was 851 Tonnes CO2-e for the five sites.
